Banks Street Bar hosts Open Mic Night for poets on Thursdays

Carolyn Hembree will guest host Banks Street Bar’s weekly Open Mic Night for poets from 7 – 9 p.m.  on Thursday, June 9, at 4401 Banks Street. Sign up for reading begins at 6:30 p.m., and readers are encouraged to keep it under five minutes.

This weekly series began in mid-May, and the event featured guest hosts Geoff Munsterman and A Scribe Called Quess? in its first two weeks. Each Thursday, a new guest host takes the helm.

The Open Mic’s organizers express that all poets are welcome. The goal of the event is to rebuild community, which means that you won’t find featured readers or favoritism of any kind at the event. The open mic is open to content of all kinds from spoken word performances and formal poetry to storytellers to experimental pieces.
