Sierra Polisar is the Head of Collections at the Newcomb Art Museum in New Orleans and former Co-President of the National Emerging Museum Professionals Network. Passionate about art, craft, and museums, Sierra blends her experience with fundraising and leadership with creativity and innovation, seeking to connect diverse audiences, preserve art legacies, and foster an appreciation of the arts within her community. Sierra is an advocate for inclusivity and non-hierarchical leadership, and her contributions to the arts sector include promoting salary transparency in the museum field and managing a peer mentorship network for young and emerging professionals. Sierra’s dedication to the arts reflects her commitment to fostering collaboration and community engagement while promoting a sense of belonging and accessibility in the arts. Sierra teaches classes in museum studies at Tulane University, runs New Orlean’s Every Museum Professional group, and is currently working towards a degree in nonprofit management. In her free time Sierra dabbles in printmaking, collage, and various other arts and crafting activities. Find her in a whimsical paper-mache headdress on Mardi Gras day or practicing her two-step downtown on a Saturday night.
