New Orleans Youth Open Mic hosts the New Orleans Youth Poetry Festival Youth Slam on Thursday, April 20, at 6 p.m. at Ashé Cac (1712 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd).
As part of the New Orleans Youth Poetry Festival, Youth from all over the city have been preparing all year to compete in this 2-round slam where the winner will be crowned the 2017 Youth Poetry Festival Slam Champ in addition to some prizes! Whether you’re a youth or not, come and supper the young people as they share their voices and compete in the 2017 NOYOM Youth Slam.

NOYOM (New Orleans Youth Open Mic) is a collective of Greater New Orleans-area youth, poets, educators, and activists whose mission is to provide enriching youth literary experience, create safe spaces for youth expression, elevate youth voices, and cultivate a sustainable literary culture for the next generation.
The collective is open to 7th-12th grade students in the Greater New Orleans Area (or young people who are out of school but fall within this age group). NOYOM currently occurs on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the Ashé Cultural Arts Center.
