PACHA MAMA: earth realm

SLIDE SHOW / ARTIST TALK & BOOK SIGNING
Friday, October 7th, 6:00pm at Antenna

Artist Lynda Frese will give an artist talk followed by a book signing for her new publication Pacha Mama: earth realm. The artist will share recent images from the Peruvian Amazon and other off-the-grid experiences that helped shape the environmental themes of her work. She will discuss the significance and process of using egg tempera paints, employed by Renaissance artists, to create jewel-like skins over her collaged photographs.

In Pacha Mama: earth realm, Lynda Frese brings together 35 of her own artworks and essays, prayers, and poems by noted healers Michele Baker and Kathi von Koerber and poet Darrell Bourque to invite the reader to consider ways of living harmoniously with the earth. The images and text explore notions of death and rebirth by considering the ways that Nature teaches us, feeds us, cleanses us, and mends us throughout time. Frese’s artworks, her own photographs combined with vintage printed material and egg tempera paints, reflect upon the South American earth goddess Pachamama and an “end time” that leads to the redemption and regeneration of the planet.  Yogi Michele Baker, contributor to Pacha Mama: earth realm book, and owner of Swan River Yoga Studios will also give a short presentation.  For more information contact info@press-street.com.
