Celebrate National Poetry Month with Brad Richard and Elizabeth Gross as they launch their new books.
Brad Richard’s collection, Parasite Kingdom, received the 2018 Tenth Gate Prize, selected by editor and poet Leslie McGrat.
Elizabeth Gross’s debut collection, this body / that lightning show, was selected by Jericho Brown for inclusion in The Word Works’ Hilary Tham Collection.
Brad Richard is the author of Habitations (Portals Press, 2000), Motion Studies (The Word Works, 2011 – winner of the Washington Prize) and Butcher’s Sugar (Sibling Rivalry, 2012). His poems and reviews have appeared in many journals, including American Letters & Commentary, Barrow Street, Gettysburg Review, Guernica, Iowa Review, Massachusetts Review, New Orleans Review, Okey-Panky, Sakura Review, and Xavier Review. He directs the creative writing program at Lusher Charter School in New Orleans; co-directs a LGBTQ reading series, The Waves; and directs the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of South Louisiana.
Elizabeth Gross is a poet and translator from New Orleans. She collaborated with artist Sara White on the chapbook Dear Escape Artist and co-translated and produced a new adaptation of Euripides’ Bakkhai at the Marigny Opera House. She teaches interdisciplinary humanities at Tulane University and co-organizes The Waves Reading Series, showcasing the work of LGBTQIA+ writers. Her work has appeared in a wide array of journals, including Fairy Tale Review, Okey-Panky, Painted Bride Quarterly, and TENDERLOIN.
