Rm 220 Presents: SHRINE & SOUND: Artist Talk & Short Film Screening

Room 220 is happy to present “Shrine and Sound,” the first in a series of interactive artist talks on the function and depiction of the sacred in popular culture. Room 220 Editor, Kristina Kay Robinson will construct a shrine dedicated to New Orleans’ spiritual and sonic culture and give a short talk about its relationship to her creative practice. Premiere screening of music video and short film, “Otherside” and “Inspire” by Scarab Shabazz will follow.
Guests will be invited afterward to participate in the ancient divination art of Bibliomancy. Bibliomancy involves the use of (sacred) texts to gain insight into current or future circumstances. The goal of the evening is to enhance extend the relationship of readers with the texts they hold dear. Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite or beloved book with them!
