Maple Street Book Shop hosts Yuri Herrera at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at their uptown storefront (7529 Maple Street). The author will read from and sign copies of his newly translated book, Kingdom Cons.  Yuri Herrera is one of Mexico’s most decorated contemporary authors. The East Bank Regional Library will host Coffee & Conversation with Yuri Herrera and Michael Allen Zell at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 13, at 4747 West Napoleon Avenue in Metairie. Internationally acclaimed Yuri Herrera will discuss his novel The Transmigration of Bodies, and author-on-the-rise Michael Allen Zell will present his latest novel Law & Desire. Yuri Herrera reads from The Transmigration of Bodies at Maple Street on July 20

Maple Street Books will host Yuri Herrera on Wednesday, July 20, at 6 p.m. to celebrate the release of his newly translated book, The Transmigration of Bodies, at their storefront (7529 Maple Street). Herrera will be reading from the novel in both Spanish and English and signing copies of the book. Yuri Herrera wins Best Translated Book Award

Local writer Yuri Herrera was recently announced as a winner of this year’s Best Translated Book Awards for his novel Signs Preceding the End of the World, translated from the Spanish by Lisa Dillman. The poetry winner was Angélica Freitas’s Rilke Shake, translated from the Portuguese by Hilary Kaplan. This is the ninth iteration of the Best Translated Book Award (BTBA) and the Yuri Herrera wins Best Translated Book Award

New Orleans celebrates Joyce’s Ulysses with Bloomsday June 16 at the Irish House

New Orleans will celebrate James Joyce’s Ulysses with a Bloomsday get-together featuring some of the city’s most exciting writers. Yuri Herrera, Mwende “FreeQuency” Katwiwa, Benjamin Morris, Brian Boyles, Maurice Carlos Ruffin, and Katy Simpson Smith will be among those who conduct a marathon reading of the towering Irish novel from 6 – 8 p.m. on New Orleans celebrates Joyce’s Ulysses with Bloomsday June 16 at the Irish House
