Yale recognizes Michael Jeffrey Lee for his inspirational prowess
Yale University has selected local author and Room 220 friend Michael Jeffrey Lee as a recipient of the 2013 Yale Educator Award. Yale asks incoming freshmen to nominate teachers who particularly inspired them. Recent NOCCA graduate-cum-Yale-student Leigh Vila picked Lee, who teaches creative writing at the arts conservatory.
Lee is the author of the short story collection Something in My Eye, which won the 2010 Mary McCarthy Prize in Short Fiction, selected by Francine Prose. Room 220 hosted the launch for that book as part of its Live Prose reading series. Read the Room 220 interview with Lee here.
