Deb Olin Unferth Brings Knowledge to the Children

The fantastic Deb Olin Unferth will give a reading and teach a masterclass this Saturday at NOCCA as part of the New Orleans New Writers Literary Festival. Unfortunately, unless you’re a high school student who attends either NOCCA or Lusher, you don’t get to partake.

As a salve for your pain from the realization of what you’re missing, you can read an interview I recently did with Unferth for BOMB Magazine about her new memoir, Revolution, which recounts the time when she was 18 and decided to drop out of college in Colorado and go “join the revolution” in Central America with her boyfriend.

I’ll try to convince Deb to go out dancing on Saturday night, and if you’re lucky enough to witness that, it’s probably better than watching her read.
