Sugar:: MaPó Kinnord

“In response to the Sugar concept I thought of Miss Malow, a sweet elderly neighbor and my babysitter. I knew I could count on some sweet treats as an act of her affection. Thus begins the traps of supplying the objects of our appetites as demonstrations of love. As a result I had (despite my evening brushing) many cavities and fillings. Having teeth pulled from my head has continued to be traumatic. Ironically soothed by more consumption of sugar. ” 

MaPo Kinnord is a ceramic artist and associate professor at Xavier University of Louisiana. Her large ceramic works were recently featured in the solo exhibition Improvovations of Space at the Ogden Museum, currently on view as a part of the Poydras Corridor Sculpture Exhibition and The New Orleans Four Season Hotel mid November 2021.
