2017 Louisiana Book Festival
The 2017 Louisiana Book Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, at 701 N. 4th Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
The 2017 Louisiana Book Festival, featuring more than 250 authors and panelists discussing their books and more than 150 programs, includes the Young Readers Pavilion, where children and parents can enjoy storytelling and performances; Teen HQ, featuring bestselling and award winning young adult authors; live musical performances; cooking demos; and a wide variety of book-related activities and exhibitors. Featured presenters at this year’s festival include MasterChef Season 7 winner Shaun O’Neale; New York Times bestselling novelist, Wally Lamb (She’s Come Undone, I’ll Take You There); author Daniel Wallace (Big Fish, Extraordinary Adventures); Newbery Medal and Margaret A. Edwards Award recipient Richard Peck; this year’s Louisiana Writer Award recipient, Johnette Downing (Today is Monday in Louisiana; Mumbo Jumbo, Stay Out of the Gumbo); Louisiana Poet Laureate Jack Bedell; Louisiana novelist and short story writer, Tim Gautreaux (Signals: New and Selected Stories); punk rock icon and former frontman of Black Flag, Keith Morris; former Governor of Louisiana and presidential candidate, Buddy Roemer; New York Times bestselling author Joshilyn Jackson (gods in Alabama, The Almost Sisters); and Crystal Wilkinson presenting her Ernest J. Gaines Award winning novel, Birds of Opulence; among many, many others, including a special appearance by the storybook characters, Elephant and Piggie!
