Ludacris helped collect 250,000 books in Epic Book Drive for New Orleans

From The Huffington Post:

Ludacris has helped collect more than 250,000 books for school libraries to serve over 30,000 New Orleans students affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, HipHopDX reports.

The music artist announced in April his partnership with Better World Books and DoSomething.org to launch the Epic Book Drive — an effort that has mobilized 100,000 volunteers to contribute to the initiative’s cause of refilling school libraries ravaged by Katrina.

The Epic Book Drive’s site notes that 80 percent of New Orleans schools were affected by the hurricane, and just one book exists for every 300 students in the most underserved areas.

“I’m proud to be a part of the Epic Book Drive and to see that over 100,000 young people participated,” Ludacris said in a statement this week. “By collecting such a huge number of books for those in need, teens around the country showed they haven’t forgotten about New Orleans and the Recovery School District.”
