Slave Rebellion Reenactment: SEWING WITH MACHINES for beginners

Learn to sew in this free workshop on how to use a sewing machine. It is open to all beginner sewers, seamstresses, and tailors, who want to help produce costumes that will dress an army of 500 reenacting the 1811 uprising next November 2019.

The Costume team is in need of your unwanted clothing for us to repurpose for the SRR.
- Men’s Clothing: Suit jackets or blazers, preferably not polyester. White collared, long sleeve dress shirts, pants (zip front, button fly, or drawstring).
- Women’s clothing: knee to floor length skirts, open neck or round neck blouses.
- Unless otherwise noted, the colors that would work best are neutral colors (browns and greys), white and primary colors….no black please. No modern patterns…..solids, stripes, or plaids please.
- Sizes Small to X large.
- Natural fibers (cotton, linen, wool) are great, please no polyester or synthetic fibers
