2019 Fall Internships at Antenna / Paper Machine

Antenna interns ensure our small organization has a huge footprint within the creative community. Our Internships are rich and rewarding experiences for those interested in visual art, creative writing, and arts administration, as they volunteer to assist in various aspects of programming including—the artist-driven gallery, the online literary journal RM220, grants through the Platforms Fund, creator-driven publishing at Paper Machine, artist and writer residencies, the largest art-making event in the city with Draw-a-thon, or arts at the intersection of environmental activism with Fossil Free Fest. Ideal candidates will have the desire to understand the inner workings of a small grassroots arts non-profit, feel comfortable working unsupervised, be highly self-motivated, creative, and have a background or desire to work in the visual and/or literary arts. With particularly ambitious individuals, there is always the possibility that they may develop their own original programming or get assistance in the development of their own work.

This fall, in addition to ongoing activities within the organization, many interns will assist in some capacity in the development of the Slave Rebellion Reenactment, a historic artistic project spearheaded by Dread Scott, as well as major yearly events like In The Fold, the organization’s fundraiser, and the 14th annual Draw-A-Thon.

Please note that all internships are unpaid, with a minimum commitment of one 8hr day a week (mon-fri), for three months. If seeking school credit, the length and schedule of the Internship will be developed to meet the school’s requirements and work around the class schedule of the ideal candidates.

This application process is highly competitive as we have limited capacity for interns each season. We can typically only take 1/3 of those that apply. If you have applied in the past, we encourage you to do so again.
