Flowers for Tony
On April 25, 2014 Tony Csavas jumped to his death from the Cooper River Bridge in Charleston, SC. Up to that point, he was a prolific painter, inspiring teacher, and significant part of so many lives. For longtime partner, Karen Ann Myers, Tony made many paintings and drawings entitled “Flowers for Karen.” Before his death, we had planned to bring his work to New Orleans and so it felt only appropriate that this exhibition should become the flowers for him. You are surrounded by paintings from his experience of Charleston since 2009, as well as a wall of works created in response to his death by friends, colleagues, and former students from throughout the country who were affected by this tragic loss.
