Unlikely Stories hosts a celebration of their 20th anniversary at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, at the New Orleans Art Center (3330 St. Claude Ave). Unlikely Stories hosts a celebration of their 20th anniversary at 8 p.m. on Friday, June 22, at the AllWays Lounge (2240 St. Claude). This show will feature an Unlikely Jam Band: Christopher Shipman, Lizz Hough, and special guest Willis Gordon of Cleveland, collaborating with the spoken word of James Blanchard, Jessica Mashael Bordelon, Alex Johnson, and Frank Xteele. The Waves Reading Series will host poet Jonathan Penton on Thursday, October 13, at 7 p.m. at Antenna Gallery (3718 St. Claude Avenue). Penton’s latest book is Standards of Saddidy (Lit Fest Press, 2016).
