Visual Poetry – One Day Workshop Intensive
Joseph Makkos & Joseph Bienvenu are hosting a one-day Intensive Visual Poetry Workshop at Nola DNA Studios.
Both poets and visual artists are encouraged to participate.
Space is limited to a maximum of 8 participants and requires an RSVP. There is a small suggested materials fee of $25 per person.
An array of tools and materials will be provided, including but not limited to: typewriters, stencils, carbon transfers, letterset (rub off letters), stamps, pen & ink, other writing instruments, such as pens, pencils, markers, paints, along with opaque or overhead projectors for tracing, and magnification, etc.
The workshop will begin with a presentation outlining the historical and conceptual basis for visual poetry and introducing exemplars of vispo works. We will also distribute a Visual Poetry Workbook containing background, prompts, and further resources.
