Octavia Books presents Elizabeth Cobbs

Come join Elizabeth Cobbs in a signing of and reading from her new book, The Hello Girls, at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, at Octavia Books (513 Octavia Street).

The event is free and open to the public.

Elizabeth Cobbs is an award-winning historian with a Ph.D. in American History from Stanford University. She currently holds the Melbern Glasscock Chair at Texas A&M University and a Research Fellowship at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution.

Dr. Cobbs was a Fulbright Scholar in Ireland and at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington D.C. She has also served on the Historical Advisory Committee of the U.S. State Department and on the jury for the Pulitzer Prize in History.

She is co-producer and screenwriter of American Umpire, a documentary airing nationwide on American Public Television beginning September 15.

Her next book, forthcoming June 6 from Harvard University Press is The Hello Girls, a novel based on the defining account of the first women to serve in the U.S. Army for the Signal Corps during WWI.
