Fiction Night: Neil Ranu and Alex B. Johnson

Blood Jet Poetry Series hosts fiction night with Neil Ranu and Alex B. Johnson at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, at BJs in the Bywater (4301 Burgundy).

Neil Ranu grew up in Fresno, California, and lived there until he moved to New Orleans to attend the MFA program at UNO in 2010. He got married and hasn’t left since. He writes fiction and is working on a set of short stories. He lives with Carolyn (wife) and Jude, Ivan and Henry (stepkids) in the Carrollton neighborhood.

Alex B. Johnson is an attorney and writer in New Orleans whose novel-in-progress was a top-ten finalist in the 2016 Faulkner-Wisdom Competition. Alex grew up on a farm in north Georgia and studied history and international affairs at the University of Georgia. On Capitol Hill, Alex worked for U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall and U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu, before moving to New Orleans where he worked at Faulkner House Books while studying at Tulane Law School. Alex’s fiction, poetry, essays, interviews, and music and book reviews have been published in various literary and law journals, music magazines, and newspapers, including Situate, Offbeat, and Bitter Southerner.
