PAGE FLIPPERS presents: Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye read aloud
PAGE FLIPPERS is a new quarterly event in New Orleans that invites guests to read great novels aloud or simply listen. The winter 2016 book is The Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison, and the reading will take place on at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, at Pelican Bay Restaurant (1701 Elysian Fields).
PAGE FLIPPERS is free of charge and open to all. Reading slots are available the night of the event for six readers up to ten minutes each. Sign-up is first come, first served. Readers do not need to read consecutively, and those reading are asked to pick their favorite pages to share. The event should run approximately one hour, and a copy of The Bluest Eye will be available for readings, though readers are encouraged to bring their own. Food and beverage will be available for purchase.
The Bluest Eye is Nobel laureate Toni Morrison’s first novel. Published in 1970, the work has been heralded, banned, and adapted for stage, most recently at Le Petit Théâtre Du Vieux Carré.
