Reading your work is a performance and performance is a skill and skills are made of techniques. We will discuss strategies for handling nervousness and overcoming problems that happen once on stage. You will learn ways to ‘own the mic’, ‘take up the stage’, and ‘use the space’ in a room to create the highest advantage for yourself in capturing and endearing audiences of all sizes. Bring three excerpts of writing that are three minutes in length each. If possible bring a range of emotion or purpose in your excerpts, but don’t overthink it. Bring a pen and a notebook and your willingness to share your courage with the rest of us.

MICHELLE EMBREE is a novelist, a playwright, a storyteller, and a performer. She holds an Master of Fine Arts in Writing from Goddard College.
