Kim Vodicka is the spokesbitch of a degeneration and heart-reactionary at the rearguard of the rose arts. She is the author of three full-length poetry collections: Aesthesia Balderdash (Trembling Pillow Press, 2012), Psychic Privates (White Stag Publishing, 2018), and The Elvis Machine (CLASH Books, 2020 [forthcoming]). She is also the creator of several multimedia works—a poetic comic book series, a chapbook of sound poems on vinyl, and an illustrated book of poetry. She is a two-time finalist for the Tarpaulin Sky Book Prize and recent winner of Really Serious Literature’s The Cravan & Bronson Dilemma Contest, for which her submitted poem will become a permanent tattoo. Her poems, art, and essays have been featured in Tenderloin, Spork, Queen Mob’s Teahouse, Makeout Creek, Luna Luna Magazine, Paper Darts, Best American Experimental Writing, Nasty! and many others. For the past decade, she has toured the country performing spoken word with musical accompaniment in bookstores, dive bars, art galleries, cafes, diners, festivals, pinup clubs, vintage clothing shops, rooftops, backyards, and places of worship. Originally from Louisiana, she currently lives in Memphis, Tennessee with her beloved cat, Lula. Cruise her at kimvodicka.com.
Lizzie Wann graduated with a BA in Literature/Writing from UC San Diego where some of her professors included Victor Hernandez Cruz, Fanny Howe & Quincy Troupe. When she attended a spoken word performance that featured Patricia Smith, she was hooked on mixing performance with the power in the written word. She started attending open mics around Southern California, became the San Diego scene reporter for Next… magazine, created her own readings & produced original shows that featured poets & musicians. She earned a spot on the 1999 Laguna Beach national slam team that competed at the National Poetry Slam in
Chicago of that year, & from there, helped make slam poetry a San Diego fixture. She hosted one-off slams, then co-hosted the fledgling San Diego slam, then held at the Urban Grind, until 2003. She also founded the Meeting Grace house concert series which ran from 2000-2008. Her work appears on 2 CDs (A Wing & A Prayer – nominated for Best Local Recording for the 2000 San Diego Music Awards – & A New Leaf), in chapbooks & in anthologies.
