All Souls Con
byAll Souls Con comes to New Orleans for two days of history and adventure, beginning at 9 a.m. on September 23, at NOPSI Hotel (317 Baronne Street).
Events will feature guest speakers, including authors and illustrators of the upcoming insider’s guide to the trilogy, The World of All Souls; as well as a chance to see and hear behind-the-scenes details for the upcoming television project and next book!
All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Bodleian Library in Oxford, via Bodley’s American Friends. There will also be a special fundraising breakfast on September 24. Tickets went on sale March 18 with early-bird prices lasting until June 15th!
Live streaming will be available for those not able to attend in person.
Deborah Harkness is a scholar of history with degrees from multiple universities. Her doctoral degree focused on the history of magic and science in Europe, especially during the period between 1500 and 1700. She currently teaches European History and the history of science to undergraduates and graduate students at the University of Southern California. She previously taught medical history at UC Davis, paleography at the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies at Oxford, and early modern European history at Colgate University.
Deborah Harkness has received fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies, the Guggenheim Foundation, the National Science Foundation, and the National Humanities Center. She has received accolades for her research from the History of Science Society, the North American Conference on British Studies, and the Longman’s History Today Prize Committee.
Her fiction work, A Discovery of Witches (2008), debuted at #2 on The New York Times bestseller list, and was also a bestseller in the UK, France, and Germany. The story continues in Shadow of Night (2012) and The Book of Life (2014), which both debuted as #1 on the NYT bestseller list.
