Daniel José Older: Bone Street Booktalk

The Norman Mayer Branch Library will host Daniel José Older at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 1, at the Mayer library (3001 Gentilly Boulevard).

The Mayer library welcomes Daniel José Older for a Q&A with Soraya Jean-Louis McElroy of the local group Wildseeds: The New Orleans Octavia Butler Emergent Strategy Collective, a network of feminists of color who use speculative fiction and art, particularly the work of Octavia Butler, as a resource for social change. Octavia Books will be on hand with copies of Older’s work for sale.

Daniel José Older is the author of the young adult novel Shadowshaper and the Bone Street Rumba urban fantasy series, which includes story collection, Salsa Nocturna. He is the co-editor of the anthology Long Hidden: Speculative Fiction from the Margins of History and his essays have appeared in Salon and on BuzzFeed, among other places.
