Celebrate the latest title from the Barataria Poetry Series (LSU Press) with “Girl After Girl After Girl” author Nicole Cooley, series editor Ava Leavell Haymon, and Martha Serpas.
Nicole Cooley is the author of “Breach,” ” Milk Dress,” “The Afflicted Girls,” and “Resurrection.” A native of New Orleans, Cooley directs the MFA Program in Creative Writing and Literary Translation at Queens College–CUNY, where she is a professor of English.
Poet Laureate emerita of the State of Louisiana, Ava Leavell Haymon’s most recent poetry collection is “Eldest Daughter,” published by Louisiana State University Press. She has written three previous collections, Why the House Is Made of Gingerbread,” “Kitchen Heat,” and “The Strict Economy of Fire,” all also from LSU Press, and edits the Barataria Poetry Series.
Martha Serpas has published three collections of poetry, “The Deiner,” “Côte Blanche,” and “The Dirty Side of the Storm.” Active in efforts to restore Louisiana’s wetlands, she co-produced Veins in the Gulf, a documentary about coastal erosion. She teaches at the University of Houston and serves as a hospital trauma chaplain.
