The third annual New Orleans Poetry Festival occurred in April with a stacked deck of panels, walking tours, books, and of course readings. One of the headliners was poet, performer, and librettist Douglas Kearney, who is the author of six critically acclaimed books and teaches at CalArts in Santa Clarita, California. RM220’s Picks for the Best Panels and Events at the 2018 New Orleans Poetry Festival (April 20-22)

The New Orleans Poetry Festival takes place from April 20-22, primarily at the New Orleans Healing Center (2372 St. Claude). (Editor’s Note: RM220 Co-Editor Sara Slaughter will be moderating a panel on Antenna/Press Street’s collaborative chapbook series at 10:05 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, and RM220 Co-Editor Christopher Romaguera is one of the festival coordinators. Poets with Bands

The second annual New Orleans Poetry Festival presents their famous Poets with Bands at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, at Cafe Istanbul NOLA (2372 St. Claude Ave). This year’s show features Kelcy Mae, Skin Verb, Jamie Bernstein, The Geraniums, The Call Girls, and special guests. Admission is free to festival pass holders or $15 Poets with Bands
