Writing workshop at the new Keller Library targets eighth graders
For many, eighth grade is a time for growth and awkwardness, puberty and confusion. Local writer and educator Janine Jankovitz has stepped up to transform the turmoil of this tender age experienced by young New Orleanians into material to mine for creative writing.
Jankovitz—who recently performed at the lascivious-sounding but probably harmless Poetry Brothel last Thursday—will be leading a workshop for eighth graders at the newly (re)opened Rosa F. Keller Library and Community Center (4300 South Broad Street, in Broadmoor).
The creative writing workshop will take place from 4 – 5 p.m. each Tuesday, beginning March 20 and culminating with a public performance of the students’ best work on May 1.
